Color Trends 2022: Pantone’s Periwinkle Blue and Where to Use It

Pantone named Very Peri the color of the year for 2022. It’s a beautiful blue-violet hue with dusky undertones that has a cheerful, vibrant quality. We’re seeing it in fashion, art, and design this year, and there are so many ways to incorporate it into our interiors, too. While we may not always want to jump on the bandwagon with a trend that may change in a year’s time, there are some clever ways to add a bit of Very Peri into your interiors without making a full-scale commitment to the color.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the PANTONE Color Institute, Very Peri “displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions.” So there’s plenty of scope to get creative with this tint!

This powdery violet hue works wonderfully on doorways, making an impression on your guests and passers-by, and adding some serious curb appeal. It’s also a low-commitment way to add it to your home, as you can easily refresh that color next year with a quick splash of paint!

We love this color on interior walls, and you can go for a vibrant accent wall or paint an entire room. It’s violet tones work beautifully with both vintage and modern decor. We love it with some Parisian-chic furnishings.

In case you need an excuse for a kitchen refresh, Very Peri is a great color for your kitchen cabinets. It looks beautiful in a bright and open modern farmhouse kitchen, or you could use a pastel version on more rustic kitchen cabinets for a touch of English cottage style.

The dusty blue hues in Very Peri pair perfectly with the coastal look. Pair it with white wood in bright, airy spaces for a touch of seaside charm.

A little bit of Very Peri also works well in tiles, whether that’s for your bathroom or your kitchen. Blue and white is a classic combination for Talavera tiles, so it’s not just a trendy fixture that will lose it’s appeal or value too quickly.
